NBC News: Manual Academy teacher could face a lifetime behind bars (Feb 4 2013) A District 150 9th grade teacher could be facing a lifetime in federal prison, after she was arrested for allegedly enticing a minor for sex ... A criminal complaint filed Monday states Ludwig was the boy's art teacher last year, and that they began texting each other a couple of months ago. The texts reportedly turned sexual in nature, which led to engaging in sexual intercourse in her classroom late last month. According to the report, Ludwig admitted to doing both. This is a federal violation because of the use of text messages, which is considered a form of interstate commerce. If convicted, Ludwig could face ten years to life in prison.

Central Illinois Proud: Teacher Accused Of Enticing Minor For Sex Faces Federal Judge (Feb 4 2013) In the criminal complaint, it said Ludwig's alleged sexual relationship with the 15-year-old victim began with text messages that eventually turned sexual in nature. The report goes on to say a text message turned to intercourse sometime last week at Manual Academy during school hours. Police said the victim went into Ludwig's classroom where she then turned the lights out and locked the door, but their sexual act was all caught on camera. Police said the victim began recording his and Ludwig's sexual intercourse on his cell phone. District 150 police caught wind of the incident after the victim showed the video to a friend. During investigations, they also found nude photos of Ludwig on the victim's cell phone.

Kellie Wood, a fourth-year probationary teacher, was officially terminated at Peoria School District 150’s April 8 board meeting. Wood’s last day of employment, according to her dismissal notice, is May 30. According to information supplied under a Freedom of Information Act request, Wood was dismissed for insubordination, unprofessional conduct, unethical conduct and poor performance in the area of professionalism. A student told Wood on Jan. 31 that another teacher had engaged in sexual contact with a minor, according to Wood’s dismissal notice, but Wood failed to report the matter to district administrators or Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, as required by state law....Other reasons listed for Wood’s dismissal include failing to follow District 150 orders to refrain from contacting other employees while she was on administrative leave during the district’s investigation and allowing a former student, also a minor, into her classroom after school hours on Feb. 1. Wood allowed the former student to enter through a locked back door, according to the dismissal notice, breaching building security and violating the school’s safety policies.
