    14 teachers listed below from public schools in the Central, Western, Brong-Ahafo and Eastern Regions of Ghana, "allegedly doctoring their pay slips with intent to access loans from the Teachers' Fund through the electronic pay slip system"

    Accomplices arrested:
    • Ernest Abaitey
    • Alex Armah Agyema
    • amuel Martey
    17 arrested for attempting to defraud Teacher’s Fund

    The suspects allegedly took advantage of the pilot electronic payment system being rolled out by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to fraudulently acquire loans from the Fund ... the persons (teachers) involved manipulated the system by altering the pay slips; changing their basic salaries to higher amounts. These forged pay slips were then attached to loan application forms submitted to the Teacher’s Fund.

    17 Busted! …For Manipulating E-Pay Slip To Access Loan From Teachers’ Fund

    The teachers who are from different parts of the country have allegedly manipulated figures on their e-pay slips and presented hardcopies of same to the Teachers Fund to access loans. The e-pay slip system which became fully operational February this year, allows workers who draw their salaries from Controller and Accountant General to access their pay slips online. It was in light of this that the teachers involved contracted some IT personnels to help them clean some debts they already owed the Teachers Fund so they could re-access loans from the fund.

    14 Teachers Arrested For Fraud

    Two months ago, officials of the Teachers' Fund reported at the station that about 30 teachers had forged their pay slips to access loans from the Fund. He said most of the teachers had either increased their net salaries or deleted some commitments which make them not eligible to access the fund. Police investigations led to the arrest of the 14 teachers suspected to be involved in the crime. In their caution statements, the 14 mentioned the three ICT personnel as their accomplices who supported them in doctoring their E-Pay Slip to access the loans.
