An Evergreen High School teacher was booked in the Clark County Jail on charges including third-degree child rape and felony sexual misconduct. Stephanie McCrea, who is the director of the school's drama department, was arrested Tuesday afternoon ... In a letter sent to parents, administrators said McCrea was placed on administrative leave earlier this month when they learned of allegations of unprofessional conduct involving a student. The district's letter states the alleged victim in this case is a high school student enrolled in the Evergreen School District, and no other students have been identified or come forward with additional details or allegations.​

A high school drama teacher who allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old student told the boy that she would kill herself if he revealed their affair to anyone, according to prosecutors.

Stephanie McCrea, a 35-year-old married mother-of-one from Vancouver, Washington, was taken into custody on Tuesday after the school learned about the alleged relationship earlier this month.

On Wednesday, she appeared in Clark County Superior Court to be arraigned on charges of third-degree child rape, witness tampering and sexual misconduct with a minor.

The boy told authorities that he met McCrea four or five times each week in her office, where they would kiss before school and after drama rehearsals, according to court documents shared by The Oregonian.​

Vancouver teacher accused of raping student posts bail

An Evergreen High School teacher accused of raping a 15-year-old student appeared in court Wednesday and then posted bail hours later. According to state prosecutors, Stephanie McCrea manipulated the boy during their nearly two-month relationship, threatened to kill herself and then attempted suicide two weeks ago.

McCrea was placed on paid leave as soon as administrators were informed of the possible abuse in early January, according to Evergreen principal Lisa Emmerich. Prosecutors said McCrea continued to have contact with the boy, even after she stopped working at the school. Attorneys for the state said that McCrea coached the boy on what to tell police and urged him to deny everything. They said the two even set up fake Facebook identities, so they could communicate secretly online.

McCrea lives in Vancouver and has been separated from her husband for one month, according to police.​

According to court documents and prosecution testimony, McCrea and the student setup fake Facebook pages so that they could communicate in private. The district attorney’s office also says McCrea told the victim she’d kill herself if he ever told anyone. Prosecutors say the relationship started in December and continued thereafter and McCrea continued seeing the student even after the school removed her from the classroom.


According to a court document, the victim told prosecutors he would meet with McCrea in her office four to five times a week, where they would kiss before school or after drama practice. The boy said the first time they had sex was over Christmas break at her Vancouver home. He said they later had sex in her office on the first day back to school after winter break.​

Documents: Evergreen teacher had sex with student at home, school

Documents obtained in the case allege that the sexual relationship began in early December, when the male student began visiting McCrea’s office before school and after drama practice four to five times a week, when the two would kiss. The alleged victim told investigators that there were two instances of oral sex prior to the winter break, according to the documents.

The first encounter of sexual intercourse happened during Christmas break when she picked the student up from his house, took him to her home and had sex with him before meeting other drama students to watch a movie at a local theater, according to court documents. The second and last time McCrea had sex with the student occurred after school in her office on the first day back from winter break, according to the documents. The alleged victim and McCrea “had discussions about keeping their relationship quiet and rehearsed what to say if interviewed by law enforcement,” according to a probable cause affidavit ... The court documents state that McCrea suffers from mental health problems that stem from a 2012 car crash and that McCrea attempted suicide two weeks ago. ​
