    Police began investigating [Richard Jayson] Jones early last month when a 16-year-old told police that he had been molested by Jones for roughly four years, Rice said. He gave officials specific details of the prior incidents. Arrest warrants show that Jones sexually assaulted the boy on several occasions between 2007 and 2010. Officials with the State Law Enforcement Division confirmed that the incidents did not occur on school grounds.

    WBTV: Elementary art teacher charged with sex crimes against a child (July 20 2012)

    Investigators say the crimes did not occur on school property. The crimes were committed between July of 2007 and July of 2010. Warrants released by the S.C. Law Enforcement Division describe the sex crimes committed by [Richard Jayson] Jones in detail but WBTV is not reporting those details to protect the victim. Jones was denied bond and is being held at the Chester County Detention Center.

    Authorities with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division say Richard Jayson Jones, 47, of Great Falls was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, victim 11-14 years of age and lewd act upon a child under 16 ... SLED says the offenses did not occur on school property. According to the arrest warrant, the incidents occurred between July 2007 and July 2010 with a child who was under the age of 16, possibly between 12 and 14 years of age, on multiple occasions in Great Falls. Jones is said to have confessed to performing the illegal acts on the child.

According to the affidavit, between July 2007 and July 2010 Jones sexually abused a minor on multiple occasions ... Authorities said the alleged crimes did not occur on school property. Jones is being held at the Chester County Detention Center.

These offenses did not occur on school property. Jones was booked at the Chester County Detention Center.

    WSOC TV: Great Falls teacher accused of molesting student (July 24 2013)

    Richard Jayson Jones, 47, is accused of molesting the student over a period of four years. The Rock Hill Herald said administrators made the decision after learning of the charges last week.

    Charlotte Observer: Former Great Falls teacher pleads guilty to assault, gets 3 years prison (Sept 13 2013)


    A former Great Falls Elementary School art teacher, once named teacher of the year, has been sentenced to three years in prison ... In court two weeks ago, [Richard Jayson] Jones pleaded guilty to assault and battery, first degree, said Sue Carpenter, clerk of court in Chester County. Part of Jones’ plea bargain involved pleading guilty to the lesser assault charge in exchange for registering as a sex offender, said Chester County public defender Mike Lifsey. Jones was sentenced to three years in prison and probation, according to assistant 6th Circuit Solicitor Chris Taylor.
