Chase, 37, a Madison Central High School secretary, was arraigned Monday in Madison District Court for allegedly having sexual relations with a boy under age 16 ... Third-degree rape is charged when a person age 21 or older engages in sexual intercourse with another person who is less than 16 years old, or if a person in a position of authority or position of special trust engages in sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 years old with whom he or she comes into contact as a result of that position. The charges against Chase are Class D felonies, which are punishable by up to five years in prison.

In an odd twist, Chase's attorney, James Baechtold, wants a Madison County grand jury to subpoena Facebook to produce the name and Internet service provider number for the person who created a page that uses Chase's name on the social network site. Baechtold said the page is a fake. The Facebook page in question contains "derogatory and offensive comments," Baechtold said in court pleadings filed Wednesday. "Quite possibly, the purpose of this account was to intimidate a witness in a legal process" and to harass Chase, Baechtold's pleading says.

Being a first time offender, Lynda requested shock probation which would have meant only a short prison stay. However, that request was denied. She served 2+ years of her original 3 year sentence and was released from custody on 23 March, 2014.
