Sex crimes detectives arrested a Oceanside High School teacher on Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy who was once her student at a Vista residential school, San Diego police officials said. The teacher, Kelly McKenzy Watson, 34, met the teenage boy while she was his teacher at New Haven Youth and Family Services from September 2010 to August 2011, according to San Diego police officials, who issued a press release announcing Watson's arrest.​

Jail records indicate she was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor and oral copulation with a minor. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, according to jail records. According to her LinkedIn profile, Watson was a "Social Emotional Special Education Teacher" at Oceanside High School, and formerly worked at New Haven. Before than, she worked at other school districts in the Bakersfield area. During her time at New Haven, she worked with "emotionally disturbed" teen boys, according to the LinkedIn profile.​

A female teacher accused of having sex with a teen who was her former student was arrested Thursday, according to the San Diego Police Department. Kelly Watson, 34, was taken into custody Thursday morning and booked into Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, according to police. According to police, Watson met the 17-year-old male when he was a student in her class at New Haven residential school in Vista. Police said Watson was the teen's teacher at the school from September 2010 to August 2011.Watson is currently a teacher at Oceanside High School, police said.In late July, SDPD Sex Crimes detectives received information about a possible inappropriate relationship between Watson and the teen. An investigation determined Watson had engaged in an inappropriate dating relationship with the juvenile several months ago.​

An investigation determined Watson engaged in a dating relationship with the 17-year-old several months ago. Kelly McKenzy Watson, 34, was also placed on three years felony probation, during which she is not allowed to work with minors, and was ordered to undergo counseling. Judge Laura Halgren said Watson -- who is due April 5 -- did not have to register as a sex offender.​

A high school special-education teacher who admitted having sex with one of her former students -- and is pregnant with his baby -- was sentenced Wednesday to a year in jail but will be released early to deliver and care for the child. Kelly McKenzy Watson, 34, was also placed on three years felony probation, during which she is not allowed to work with minors, and was ordered to undergo counseling. Judge Laura Halgren said Watson -- who is due April 5 -- did not have to register as a sex offender.​

Attorneys said the unborn child's father -- who turns 18 in April -- is in love with Watson and plans to be part of the child's life despite a no-contact order put in place by the judge. Halgren said the victim could be present for the birth. The defendant pleaded guilty in November to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. According to a psychological evaluation, Watson is not sexually promiscuous but was naive and immature when she got involved with the then-16-year-old boy.​
