Since the girl has a mental handicap, prosecutors said Gibson's alleged actions are considered rape. ...On Tuesday, Gibson was arrested, accused of sexually assaulting three former students. Two of those incidents happened back in the 1990s. The alleged victims were 15 and 16 years old at the time. Court documents said Gibson gave those students alcohol and marijuana at his home before having sex with them. The most recent alleged incident happened this past August. West Virginia Gazette: Putnam teacher's aide charged with sexual assault (Sept 4 2013) According to a criminal complaint filed in Putnam County Magistrate Court, a former Hurricane High special-needs teacher told State Police last month that her former student, now 21, went to stay with Gibson after leaving her foster home. The woman "has the mindset of a 13-year-old," State Police Cpl. R.A. Phillips wrote in the complaint. The alleged victim stayed at Gibson's home for one week, and he repeatedly tried to get her intoxicated and touched her, according to the complaint. The woman said she had sex with Gibson after he had her drink several cups of vodka and smoke marijuana. She said she remembers the incident, but could not stop Gibson because she was not fully conscious. Gibson allegedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident. The woman provided investigators with a picture taken in Gibson's home that showed the faces of the victim's classmates taped over naked pictures. Officers obtained a search warrant and found evidence of child pornography, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the complaint.

Phillips says she gave investigators a photo shot in Gibson's house, showing the faces of her classmates taped over the naked bodies of other people. Phillips says Gibson admitted having sex with that victim and another who was a 16-year-old Hurricane High student in 1996. Troopers also found child pornography in Gibson's home.

The retiree told police she had confronted the suspect and reported the incidents to the school's principal. On Aug. 19, 2013, the 21-year-old used Gibson's phone as he slept to call the retired teacher for help. The retiree met her former student in a field along Hurricane Creek Road. The two met with investigators days later.
