    Stamford student who had relationship with teacher awarded settlement

    The former Stamford High School student who had an eight-month affair with jailed former English teacher Danielle Watkins has reached a $750,000 settlement with the city. The youth, who is now 19, made a complaint to police in June 2014 that Watkins began a sexual relationship with him earlier that school year. Norwalk attorney Donald Papcsy represents the teen whose identity is being protected as a victim of sexual abuse, along with another student who Watkins supplied marijuana to during the 2013 school year.     Settlement Reached in Stamford Teacher Sex Abuse Incident

    The former Stamford High School student that had sexual relations with an English teacher was awarded a $750,000 settlement with the city. The teen's identity is being protected because he is the victim of sexual abuse, according to the Stamford Advocate. The identity of another student who Danielle Watkins supplied marijauna to during 2013 is also protected.     City Settles With Ex-Student Who Had Sex With Teacher

    The recent Stamford School District sex scandal is going to cost the city and its school system more than just their reputations. The city has agreed to pay the student who had a sexual relationship with his teacher $750,000 to resolve any potential civil lawsuit. Stamford Corporation Counsel Kathryn Emmett confirmed the settlement with the Law Tribune and noted that the deal will pay the victim $750,000 spread out over his life, through 2041. Emmett declined further comment on the case.

    Dead Stamford man involved in high school sex scandal

    Even before Shane Slinsky met disgraced former Stamford High School English teacher Danielle Watkins while a student almost three years ago, he struggled with drug use — especially marijuana.     In 2016, Shane Slinsky and his family accepted a $100,000 settlement from the city of Stamford for injuries his family said he suffered from a drug-infused relationship with former Stamford High School English teacher Danielle Watkins.

    While the teacher was having a sexual relationship with one of his friends, she was also supplying Slinsky and the friend with marijuana, according to Watkins’ arrest affidavit.

    Watkins pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault, threatening and risk of injury to a child and was sentenced to five years in prison.

    A local man, serving prison time for a crime spree in Stamford, is facing 35 years in prison after he pleaded guilty Tuesday to fatally shooting a teenager who had collected a settlement for a relationship he had with one of his teachers.
