    Former teacher sues school district over 2013 firing


    Five years after his contract was terminated by the Joplin School Board, former middle school teacher William "Randy" Turner has sued the school district, alleging civil rights violations in connection with his 2013 firing. The suit was first filed in Jasper County Circuit Court on June 6, but has been transferred, by request of the school district, to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.     Former teacher's suit against school district dismissed

    A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a former Joplin School District teacher against the district, but the attorney for William "Randy" Turner says the order was based in part on incorrect information, and he expects it to be set aside. At issue are the statute of limitations applicable in Turner's civil rights claim and the precise date in 2013 when he knew his employment was to be terminated.
