    Stamford rep's abuse law moves through assembly

    A bill to improve child-abuse reporting laws that was inspired by the Stamford High Schoolteacher-student sex scandal passed the state Legislature's Judiciary Committee on Friday with virtually no debate and only one vote against it. State Rep. William Tong, D-Stamford, proposed the bill in February in the wake of two Stamford High School administrators being charged with failing to report suspicions of the relationship. The chairman of the Judiciary Committee said at the time the case "really made us sick to our stomachs."
