    Palm Springs police officers arrested a Palm Springs High School teacher Thursday afternoon on suspicion of sending inappropriate text messages to a 15-year-old male student. Ronald Steven Bishop, 40, was taken into custody about 3 p.m. in the high school's campus parking lot, "without incident," according to Palm Springs police Sergeant Mike Kovaleff ... The investigation started on Monday, when police detectives got a report of a child annoyance involving the teenage victim. Bishop is an English teacher at the school, and the alleged victim is in one of his classes. Kovaleff said Bishop is suspected of texting the victim over the last two months with the intent of seducing him ... "At some point the parents found out," ...

    According to Palm Springs police, teacher and Indio resident Ronald Bishop, 40 was detained in the Palm Springs high school parking lot Thursday afternoon. Bishop is suspected of sending text messages containing matter used in an attempt to seduce a 15 year old. Bishop was arrested for contact or communication with a minor to commit an offense which is a felony.

    Ronald Bishop, 40, was arrested without incident at 3:12 p.m. in a school parking lot, according to Palm Springs police. Bishop was arrested for felony contact or communication with a minor to commit an offense, police said. Investigators learned on Monday that a 15-year-old boy had been communicating with the suspect via text messaging over the past two months ... The boy and his parents reported the incidents to police, Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.

    Ronald Bishop, 40, was arrested without incident at 3:12 p.m. Thursday in a school parking lot on suspicion of trying to seduce a student, according to Palm Springs police ... He was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and was released today on a $150,000 bond.

"The arrest was went down without incident," said Kovaleff. "It was low key. The suspect was transported to here, to the station (in Palm Springs) and then Riverside County Jail in Banning." The investigation started on Monday, when police detectives got a report of a child annoyance involving the teenage victim. Bishop is an English teacher at the school, and the alleged victim is in one of his classes. Kovaleff said Bishop is suspected of texting the victim over the last two months with the intent of seducing him. The messages are described as "harmful matter." "At some point the parents found out," said Kovaleff. "I don't know if the victim disclosed or they discovered on their own and they brought it to our detectives."

    Police arrested Bishop Thursday in a parking lot on campus. KMIR 6's Adrianna Weingold spoke with students who actually had class with Bishop. They say this arrest is a long time coming ... I mean at first I thought he was just a normal teacher and then during the days he just started staring at all the guys, all the boys in class.     Forty-year-old Ronald Steven Bishop was arrested at 3:12 p.m. Thursday at the school and booked for investigation of communicating with a minor to commit an offense and annoying or molesting a child, jail records show. He was released Friday on $150,000 bail. The investigation began Monday, Jan. 14, with a report of a child annoyance involving the boy, Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said in a written statement. “Bishop was one of the victim’s teachers,” according to the statement. “Bishop was suspected of communicating via text messaging with the … victim over a period of nearly two months.

    A Palm Springs High School teacher accused of molesting at least one male student pleaded not guilty Friday to sodomy and other sexual offenses and was ordered into custody. Ronald Bishop, 40, was initially charged Wednesday with four counts, and prosecutors added five more charges Friday against the 41-year-old Indio resident. He now faces seven felony charges — two counts of sodomy, one count each of oral copulation with a child under 16, unlawful bodily injury/sexual penetration by means of force, committing a lewd act on a child under 16, contacting a minor with intent to commit crimes and bringing child pornography into the state. He also is charged with two misdemeanors — molesting a child under 18 and possession of material showing minors in sex acts.
