    Delco teacher, charged with assaulting 7-year-olds, pleads no contest

    A former Delaware County second-grade teacher pleaded no contest Tuesday to charges in three cases that he touched 10 students inappropriately. Paul Hochschwender, 55, of Broomall, who taught at Darby Township School in the Southeast Delco district, surrendered to authorities to begin serving a prison sentence. He pleaded no contest to two counts of institutional sexual assault, four counts of indecent assault, and four counts of corruption of minors, according to Michael Galantino, deputy district attorney. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 7.

    Pa. elementary teacher pleads no contest to touching students, faces 1-2 years: Justice?

    The second grade teacher stands accused of inappropriately touching at least nine female students, including one in first grade. Yet, after his no contest plea yesterday, Southeast Delco School District teacher Paul Hochschwender could spend less than a year in jail, according to DelcoTimes.com. The website writes that Hochschwender, 54, has negotiated a sentence with Delaware County prosecutors of one year less one day to two years less one day at the county prison in Concord.

    Southeast Delco accepts resignation of teacher accused of sex assaults

    Southeast Delco School Board members unanimously voted to accept the resignation of convicted child-sex abuser Paul Hochschwender from his teaching position at Darby Township School Thursday. His resignation was effective Feb. 26, according to the agenda. In supporting information included in the prepared agenda, Hochschwender resigned after receiving a required school employment termination letter. He also surrendered his teaching certification to Pennsylvania Department of Education. Hochschwender, a 55-year-old Marple father of two, entered “no contest” pleas last month to charges in three separate cases that he inappropriately touched at least nine female students.
