Well, since they were put on administrative leave on the same day Lippert and Ghirelli were, I'd suggest that it's a fairly safe bet they are all related. I don't recall where I read it, but there was an early report that the Lippert and Ghirelli were dropped off / picked up at the beach by someone else. If that is true, I think it's a reasonable conclusion that it may have involved the Andersons.

I see three possibilities on why the Andersons were let go....

    1) they were aware of what took place via their interaction with Lippert and Ghirelli (perhaps to the point of acting as chauffeurs) and failed to report the teacher-driven beach sex romp with students that they somewhat facilitated. The question would then be, when did they find out Lippert had student/teacher sex on the agenda....before or after the event?

    2) they were informed by a student of what took place and failed to report it.

    3) they were somehow involved in the cocaine acquisition by the teachers.

I've no doubt there are other possibilities we could come up with if we used our imagination. But in my mind, one of the three scenarios above seems most likely.

There is no way I'd ever let my teenage son or daughter go to this school. I suppose you could say that one bad apple (perhaps even 2) doesn't spoil the bunch and that the school administration should be given the benefit of the doubt. But so far, within a very short period of time, 6 bad apples have appeared that either participated in taking sexual advantage of students, or knew about it and supported or otherwise facilitated the activity. There is something seriously amiss at this school that needs to be rectified.

Lippert pleaded guilty to felony statutory rape. (Not for the student she had sex with, but because she pressured the underage student and Ghirelli to have sex.) Ghirelli pleaded guilty to the same charge as well as a felony count of furnishing a controlled substance (cocaine) to minors. Both received probation with NO JAIL TIME AND NO REQUIREMENT TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER. Lippert was also ordered to do 15 days of work with Caltrans. If she fails to do so, she could face three months in jail. Ghirelli, meanwhile, must serve six months in a live-in, locked-down drug rehabilitation facility, or she could face the same amount of time in jail, the prosecutor said. Both had to give up their teacher's credentials.

The deputy district attorney made a couple of (in my opinion) ignorant statements. The first saying (in a video within the defund.com link above) that this no jail or sex registration sentence is far more severe than most....why?.....because they both had to forfeit their teaching credentials. So that is the big hit for them? This implies that most California teachers caught having sex and handing out cocaine to their students get to keep their teaching credentials? Really? The second was saying that while the women acted foolish in this isolated incident, sex-offender registration requirement should be reserved for "sexual predators.''

So lets get this straight.....a teacher goes on a camping trip with 5 of her students, she has sex with one of them (who in a victim impact statement read in court stated he was embarrassed, felt pressured and was afraid of saying no to his teacher's advances), then said teacher schedules another camping trip with the same students and brings along another teacher (who brings her cocaine stash with her, clearly ready to party down), then she coaxes both an underaged student and this second teacher to have sex during the two day camping trip. Actually taking the young boy by the hand, encouraging him to have sex with Ghirelli and leading him to a tent where Ghirelli was apparently waiting. This deputy DA needs to explain to us just how she defines predatory behavior.....cause if I didn't know better, is seems that this is just another case of female sex offender getting a slap on the wrist for their crime. I wonder how this deputy DA would have acted if it had been two male teachers handing out cocaine and having sex with their students.

Interestingly, nobody seemed to bring up the California law prohibiting sex between teachers and students 18 to 21 years of age....it wasn't mentioned once in all the media reports.

Just another sad example of female teachers getting off easy. As a parent of an 18 year old boy, I find the outcome of this case offensive.

BTW - I could find nothing on the web about Larry and Lisa Anderson, the couple are both teachers who were suspended the same day the Lippert/Ghirelli incident came to light. Anyone know what came of that, or what role they may have played in the event?
