    Holyoke police officer arrested and charged with OUI


    A Holyoke police officer was arrested and charged with OUI. Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News on September 21, the Holyoke Chief was made aware of the arrest of one of their officers by the Massachusetts State Police for the charge of operating under the influence. Lt. Albert said the officer was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case and the internal investigation by the Holyoke Police Department.

    When responding to a report of a Chevrolet Silverado stopped in the right travel lane of the highway on a Saturday night, a state trooper found the truck running and in gear and a man asleep behind the wheel with his foot on the brake. After knocking on the window of the locked truck, the trooper woke up the driver only to learn he was an off-duty Holyoke Police officer. Michael R.
