"Some stuff happened around the 8th grade. She sent me a couple of text messages, that was about it," he said. Those messages included photos of Simmons’ "private parts," according to the student. "Like wow, what kind of person would send me this?" the student said. "An adult, and I’m a child." The teen said it started when he went to Simmons for tutoring and she exchanged phone numbers with him. "She was inviting me to her house, or trying to take me home different times," he said. The two other charges filed against Simmons—online solicitation of a minor and possession of child pornography—are both third-degree felonies. LaShawn Simmons, 41, was charged Monday with sexual assault of a child, two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student, online solicitation of a minor and possession of child pornography, court records show. Simmons resigned last month from Beverly Hills Intermediate School in the Pasadena Independent School District in lieu of termination.
