In U.S., more female teachers sexually abusing students: news reports If it seems as though more women teachers are being prosecuted for sexually abusing students that's because it's true, according to a Reuters story on the topic. Last year, the news service reports, 800 teachers in the United States "were prosecuted for sexual assault, nearly a third of them women." Such a case garnered headlines in Louisiana last year when two Destrehan High School teachers,Shelley Dufresne and Rachel Respass, were arrested for an alleged threesome with a student in Kenner and other incidents.
