Investigators say Clarence Martell II, 39, a married father of two, assaulted the girl in his home on a living room couch multiple times while his wife and kids slept in another room. Court documents show officials at the school say they were made aware of text messages indicating that Martell was having an inappropriate relationship with the 15-year-old victim, when her friend, another student, came forward. The victim was reportedly a family friend of Martell's family for over three years. She was staying with Martell's family in Bennington over two weeks in September due to alleged problems at her own home. The victim at first allegedly denied the encounters took place, but later admitted it, saying she was "confused" by what Martell, who she considered a father figure, did to her.
