    Wednesday evening the Lubbock High School orchestra teacher was arrested at his home for having marijuana. Police say they received a tip that 34-year-old Alejos Anaya had marijuana at his home in the 3600 block of 31st street. Around 7:30 pm on Wednesday police visited Anaya's home where he agreed to let them search the house. Police found a small amount of marijuana, Anaya was arrested and charged with possession of less than two ounces of marijuana at his home within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

    A Lubbock High School teacher has been arrested for possession of Marijuana in his home. Alejos Anaya was arrested Wednesday night for possession of the drug at his home after Lubbock Police received a tip. He was charged for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana at his home, which was within 1000 feet of a school.

    Police report 34-year-old Alejos Anaya was arrested at his home last night after agreeing to let officers conduct a search ... Anaya is accused of possessing less than two ounces of marijuana in a drug free zone. His home is within a thousand feet of a school.

    Red Raiders: LHS orchestra teacher pleads no conetst to misdemeanor pot charge: On paid leave pending decision from state certification board (Dec 7 2012)

    Lubbock High School’s orchestra teacher pleaded no contest Thursday morning to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. Alejos Anaya, 34, accepted a plea offer from the Criminal District Attorney’s office in exchange for deferred adjudication.

    Apparent press release from Lubbock ISD via Live 5 News and News Channel 10 (Dec 18 2012):

    Lubbock High School Orchestra teacher Alejos Anaya resumed teaching duties at LHS on December 17. Due to clearance from the State Board of Educator Certification, a reduction in the charges to a Class B misdemeanor and his stellar teaching record, Anaya was reinstated. He has agreed to several conditions surrounding his continued employment, including a change of his contract to a probationary contract. We are pleased to put this matter to rest and continue the outstanding orchestra program at Lubbock High School.

    Lubbock High School’s orchestra director, Alejos Anaya, resumed teaching duties on Monday after the resolution of his arrest Nov. 7 on a marijuana charge. Anaya, 34, has been on paid administrative leave from the school district until the case was resolved and an investigation by the State Board of Educator Certification was complete. A Facebook page encouraging LISD to reinstate the teacher had a photo of Anaya returning to class and had garnered 188 likes on his return.
